“Imagine an organism that feeds you and heals you, generates soil to give life, is able to cleanse up a toxic oil spill, and even reveal the secrets of the Universe. It could even help save the planet.”
These organisms exist. They are the Medicinal Mushrooms, also called Fantastic Fungi.
“We are more closely related to Fungi, than to any other Kingdom”, says Paul Stamets, the brilliant mycologist, in Mycomedicinals.
Red Reishi, for example, is so similar to our immune system, in its molecular structure, that it could be a model for it! Also called Ganoderma Lucidum, Reishi is the most famous of all medicinal mushrooms, with the history of its use going back many thousands of years in China, where it has been called the Mushroom of Immortality.
Reishi is essential to a proper anti-parasitic, antimicrobial, healing protocol.
It decomposes pathogenic microbes, disrupting the growth of viruses, bacteria and other germs, as well as cancer cells, and on top, it regulates and modulates our immune system, enhancing its perfect functioning.
And much, much more. It provides liver protection and regeneration, and improves liver function, helping our body detoxify. It is also a natural blood thinner and a natural anti-oxidant. It reduces blood fat levels, regulates blood pressure and oxygenates the blood.
It helps alleviate allergies, inhibiting histamine release. It relieves arthritis, stress, pain and fatigue. It also has anti-inflammatory effects. It also crosses the blood-brain barrier, relieves insomnia and helps calm the mind.
But not only Reishi, basically ALL mushrooms are incredible, and along with Sulphur and the Rainforest herbs, they are truly the superfoods of all superfoods.
Medicinal mushrooms support our immune system in ways really hard to fathom! True medical grade potency, with no side effects.
Medicinal Mushrooms have been widely used for centuries in Asia, and extensive research of the past years shows incredible results, all printed in prestige medical journals. Why doesn’t everybody know?
They fight all other chronic diseases, including cancer, each one in a very unique and specific, targeted way. Mushrooms are also one of the few things that can repair damaged DNA.
Chaga for example is known to protect our DNA and even repair it when it’s damaged from oxidative-stress. Chaga grows abundantly in the Northern hemisphere, mostly on birch trees, feeding on their sap.
Chaga is also an incredibly potent anti-oxidant, blood purifier and one of the most alkalising substances known to man. It is also an adaptogenic and helps combat stress. Like Reishi, Chaga also has an immune system enhancing and balancing, anti-cancer, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effect, as it increases our Natural Killer Cell production and Macrophage activity, which literally eat and eliminate unwanted substances. It even provides anti-diabetic and anti-dementia effects.
Chaga is also a rich source of minerals our body is starving for, including Selenium, Iron, Zinc, Chromium, Manganese, Copper and Magnesium.
Turkey Tail is another miraculous mushroom. It empowers and literally supercharges our immune system, so much so that it potentially shrinks tumours and helps to heal from cancer, as well as all kinds of infections, including those of the respiratory, urinary and digestive tract. It is also fantastic for increasing energy levels.
Cordyceps is a powerful sexual and athletic enhancer, and Lion’s Mane boosts cognitive function, focus and memory; and supports digestion and gastrointestinal health.
Then there is Mesima, Maitake, Blazei, Poria, etc., and they’re all amazing! There are also 200 species of Magic Mushrooms with their common ingredient psilocybin… Incredible little things!
Mushrooms are also a fantastic source of Vitamin D! Instead of taking your synthetic Vitamin D, just place any kind of edible mushrooms in the sun for 2 hours (with a fly net to protect them from birds), and eat them. Paul Stamets found that 100g of sunshine-exposed mushrooms contain approximately 46,000IU Vitamin D! So even just by eating 10g daily, you would have 4600IU!
You can make mushroom soup, mushroom stew or gravy; you can grill or sauté them, and eat them with buckwheat, barley, millet, potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad, or anything else you desire.
You can buy mushroom growing kits and grow them yourself in your kitchen.
Otherwise, whenever possible, only buy organic mushrooms, to supplement with.
I use an organic Medicinal Mushrooms powder that contains seven different types, mixed in my food or just swallowed with water every day, and take Red Reishi and Chaga powder extra. I LOVE them, and have written more about them in my Books ‘Purify, Regenerate, Heal’ (mushroom supplementation), ‘Nourished by Nature’ (mushroom nutrition), as well as ‘K.I.S.S. in the Kitchen’ (recipes), and also in our Unlimited Health Academy program.
Mushrooms do magic! And I’m not even talking about magic mushrooms here… just the plain medicinal mushrooms:)
Mushrooms are powerful healers. Eat them, take them, love them!
There are only a few plants I am possibly even more grateful for, most of which are hidden deep in the rainforests of the Amazons… I’ll write about them next time:)
